Frequently Asked Questions

  • We are in-network and a preferred provider with BCBS PPO and accept private pay.

  • All evaluation and therapy fees (including copays if applicable) are due at the time of service or upon receipt of invoice for BCBS clients. We bill an hourly rate for all services. Treatment sessions are offered at 30m and 60m intervals. Frequency is determined at the time of the initial evaluation. Forms of payment accepted include cash, Zelle, credit card on file, or health savings/flexible spending accounts (HSA, FSA).

  • Consistency in attendance is crucial for therapeutic progress and success. We understand that illnesses and emergencies occur, but we respectfully request that you avoid cancellations or “no shows." Every attempt to reschedule the missed session will be made. In the event that the session cannot be rescheduled, therapy will resume at the next recurring appointment. A fee of $50 will be assessed if the following occurs: the cancellation is made less than 24 hours in advance, or the client fails to show up/be home for a scheduled appointment. The fee will be billed directly to the client and not their health insurance company, as medical insurance does not provide coverage for missed sessions.

  • Services are provided in home or via teletherapy platform, unless arrangements for an alternative location have been agreed upon prior to the appointment.

  • No, our service fee includes travel.

  • Yes. The evaluation is the first step in creating an individualized treatment plan. We gather crucial information from families and assess the little one's abilities and challenges to determine the plan of care and frequency of therapy. An outside evaluation completed within 3 months prior to scheduling services with Because They Grow will be taken into consideration on an individual basis.

  • A referral is required for all BCBS PPO clients due to insurance regulations. It is recommended that our private-pay families also obtain a referral; however, it is not required to begin services. We encourage communication with your child's primary care pediatrician and will send evaluation and progress reports to referring physicians.

  • In-home therapy allows your child to work within familiar, comfortable environments and create experiences that are able to be reproduced with caregivers. During in-home sessions, family is invited to participate and practice therapy strategies and receive feedback in real time.

Teletherapy services is an excellent alternative to in-home sessions. Families choose virtual visits for many reasons. They provide all of the benefits of in-person sessions and are a wonderful way to access support when distance or provider availability is an issue. Teletherapy can be an alternative to missed sessions and follows the same coaching model as our in-person visits.

  • Yes, sometimes insurance plans will allow for a maximum number of sessions. In the event that a family's benefits are used up, therapy can continue as private pay.

  • Each child's treatment plan and progress are unique, as is family participation and carryover. We cannot predict how long treatment will take because each child grows at their own pace. Consistency and participation are the key in making progress and achieving successful outcomes.

  • Absolutely! Given authorization to do so, we collaborate and coordinate with your little one's team. We do not operate in a vacuum, and inter-professional collaboration increases positive therapeutic outcomes.

  • Play-based therapy is built upon play-based learning. Research confirms that children build and practice core life skill through play including language, cognition, and motor skills. Play-based therapy is embedding treatment strategies within play including assessment and modification in real time. One session may look like practicing spatial concepts using favorite Paw Patrol characters, while another may center around speech sounds using Play-Doh. Play-based therapy decreases stress, increases resiliency, build social interactions, and maximizes your little one's neurological development.

  • SOS and AEIOU are feeding intensive programs that equip therapists with the necessary assessment and treatment skills to address the variety of feeding challenges and complex disorders that affect infants and children. These programs are considered advanced trainings. Because They Grow utilizes components of each program in treatment.

Responsive feeding is an approach to feeding children that includes recognizing and responding appropriately to a child's cues during mealtimes. Responsive feeding never force-feeds or teaches compliance-based eating as some programs do.

  • Caregiver coaching looks like an ongoing conversation with space to practice and modify skills. We come alongside families and listen to their concerns and goals. Through coaching or examples and conversations, Because They Grow gives families the opportunity to take the reins in their child's progress and success. We are present for a short, limited time while families are present every day with their children. By coaching, we encourage caregivers to carry over and practice treatment strategies within their daily routines, maximizing success.
